JAN's SARASOTA SUGGESTIONS "Sarasota is a terrific community, a wonderful place to live, work and play, with a celebrated history and a strong future. You will love living here!" Best place for a cup of coffee: Sarasota Books and News. Yes we have Starbucks, but SB&N is very special and quaint. Best place for a low budget or foreign film: Burns Court Theater. You can drink beer here, too! Great popcorn and chocolate. Across the street from the theatre is Uva Rara. Love this place! Nestled in a 1920's Mediterranean Home, Uva Rara is an Italian restaurant. Lots of charm, fabulous service, and the food is wonderful. Home made pasta and nice wine list. Best place to grab a sandwich: Simon's Coffee House. Located in DeSears Plaza. Grab organic coffees, fresh squeezed juices, and incredible sandwiches, soups and salads. SPA!!!! There are several wonderful spas in town. If you're on St. Armand's Circle, check out The Met. If Central Sarasota is your location, Body and Spirit offers an array of services. Downtown: Next door to our office is Le Haircut. Shopping: SouthGate Mall has many wonderful stores (Aveda, Pottery Barn, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, SAKS, Dillards, etc.). St. Armand's Circle is relaxing and offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and ice cream options. Southside Village: This village is located at the corner of Hillview and Osprey. This area is hip and fun. Check out Morton's Market - offers everything from pastries, sandwiches, everyday items, ready to go dishes, and much more. A great spot for on-the-go meals, desserts, great snacks, flowers, etc. Connected to Morton's is Annabel's Gift Shop - beautiful candles, linens, kitchen and bathroom acessories, books, purses; a fun place to shop . You have to stop in! Fred's and The Tasting Room - Great Happy Hour and dinner spot. Everyone hangs out here! In addition there are Stationary , Chocolate , and Specialty Boutique stores. Southside Deli (one of my favorites), Pacific Rim (get the Stacy Roll!), and Sarasota Memorial Hospital help make up the village. A great breakfast place: Word of Mouth. So good! They will make anything, anyway you like. Their food is homemade and delicious. Located in the Gulf Gate area. There are so many things I love about Sarasota. I can recommend hundreds of places, and services. Please email me with anything you are interested in. I am happy to help make recommendations! |
